I read before that Stingers should not be used in autoloaders. Well today I found that to be true.
I took my .22 Ace to the range and was shooting some Blazers when I thought I would try a few Stingers. I shot about 20 rounds and they were quite snappy and I was done.
I get home and start cleaning and the brush and rod are not passing through the bore. I look down the barrel and it looks like an aluminum rod has scraped itself along the inside. That's when I remember that Stinger cases are longer and that is why they should not be used in autoloaders. Apparently small pieces of the front of the case have broken off and were stuck down the bore. I managed to get a well lubed brush down the bore and was getting small pieces of the brass out. It wasn't looking good. I had to put a rod and brush in a drill and work the bore but eventually it came clean. Whew! The bore was looking bad at the start and now it looks normal again. So heads up it is true. Don't use Stingers in an Ace and be careful if you do try them.

Hmm, I've never had any problem using them in my 10/22T, or my old P22 and Ruger autoloader pistols. Granted, I don't shoot them a lot, just sparingly.

For my Beretta Bobcat 21A, a very small semi-auto mousegun, the Stingers are the most reliable round. They never get a jam or misfire. I don't use them in my other .22s, though, and now I might not.

I've never experienced the problems that you've described, but they do not function well in my Nylon 66 due to the longer case...they do not clear the ejection port because of the longer case and get caught on the side of the port, rendering the gun useless. Not a typical 'stove pipe', but rather the mouth of the case is jammed into the plastic....takes a bit of doing to get it removed.

I just bought some Winchester .22 ammo that uses a plated hollow point 32gr bullet and is rated at 1640 fps. Winchester is packaging it under their Supreme line (Part #S22LRUHV) in a black and red plastic case. I can see no difference between it and the Stingers but they cost less. This may be of no help to you though because their case is also longer like the Stinger ammo.

Never had a problem with them in my Ruger MK2 or my Walther P22.
Or anything else I have shot them in. Strange. Glad you got it sorted though!

I fired a box of standard velocity CCI's and some CCI Velocitors 40gr through the conversion. Not a single problem with leading, debris and no FTF's or FTE's. I was going to retry the stingers but was very hesitant. A one shot at a time and check the bore and ejected cases kind of test. I was shooting Blazers the same day and was wondering if they were part of the problem as well. All I know for sure is after the Stingers the bore was not right.
