Rifle for all seasons « Thread Started on Aug 24, 2009, 10:56am »
Awhile back, I gave my Mini 14 to my son for his birthday. He had lusted for it and I weakened and gave it to him with the promise that he would get combat rifle training with it. Anyway, that left me with a .22 rifle and a 12ga shotgun. I started saving my pennies for something in "assault" rifle. A friend offered me a Remington model 760 for a killer price and I snapped it up. I have always been an 06 guy and it struck me that, short of a Garand , this darned thing will put out the rounds pretty rapidly and will take down anything I might have to hunt, up to and including elk. Plus, I think several US conflicts have the shown the old 06 is a pretty fair man stopper as well. So, I decided that I would pass on an AK or AR for now. This 760 ran me half of what even a AK would have. But.....I sure do like those AKs...................
I don't blame the far left anymore than I blame a fish for swimming; it's what they do. I blame the mushy, middle ground voters who hide behind an uninformed mind by claiming an open one.

... me, I'll stay with my .22, thanks - I can shoot the wings off of a fly at 100 yards... well, how about a gallon jug at 50 feet?

A good friend of mine has a 760 and won't shoot anything else. Be-careful cleaning the gas recoil port. There's a little ball bearing and loves to roll under your shop bench.
